Skate contest at Etnies raises funds to help children in need, injured sports athletes

LAKE FOREST Rain may have delayed the 8th annual Skate for a Cause Saturday, but ultimately, skaters would not be denied the opportunity to shred at Etnies Skate Park.

While waiting for the rain to stop so the contests could start, skaters tried their luck on the wet, slippery surfaces. Once the rain stopped, competitors wowed the crowds with big tricks, long grinds and board-handling through obstacle courses.

The event included a bowl contest, SkaterCross contest, and best trick contests at various spots within the park.

The event also included raffles and a finger board area for kids.

The annual event, which is free to attend, raises funds for children in need and injured action sports athletes.
